The KUS, which also represents the area of leisure, recreation and tourism in the district of Pfaffenhofen a.d.Ilm, is launching an inventory of cycling in the district of Pfaffenhofen a.d.Ilm as part of a Leader project – “Radoffensive”. The aim is to enhance the district and its cycle path structure for commuters, tourists and leisure cyclists alike.

Project goals
- Upgrading the cycle path structure in the district for commuters, leisure cyclists and tourists
- Creation of quality standards
- Development towards a “cycling region” with an increase in quality and expansion of existing services
- Optimization of the touristic image
- Comprehensive development and expansion of infrastructure and service quality to enhance the quality of life in the district
- Increasing identification with the region by integrating the experience of various themes such as river valleys, hops and asparagus
- Creation of health-promoting and environmentally friendly transportation options
Concrete measures
Together with a planning office, the following elements are reviewed as part of the inventory:
- Signage
- Condition
- Quality
- Safety, traffic load and closing gaps
- Inclusion of quality of experience (gastronomy, hotels, sights)
- (E-)bike services along the route
- Parking facilities, rest and relaxation areas

LEADER in Bavaria
With the LEADER program, the Staatsministerium (State Ministry) supports rural regions on their path to self-determined development – true to the motto “Citizens shape their homeland”.
LEADER is an abbreviation of the French terms: Liaison entre les actions de développement de l’économie rurale; in English: Link between actions to develop the rural economy. The LEADER funding program is a success story for the development of rural regions in Bavaria. The focus is on the Local Action Groups (LAGs). They are partnerships between municipal, economic and socially committed stakeholders in the region.
68 LAGs have been recognized for the 2014 – 2020 funding period. This means that the Bavarian LEADER area covers 86% of the state area and 58% of the population. Around € 111 million in EU and state funds are available for the projects.
